Billy Bookcase

"BILLY is a bookcase sold by Swedish furniture company IKEA.
Swedish designer Gillis Lundgren developed the bookcase in 1979.
IKEA have sold 41 million worldwide as of 2009. BILLY has made
owning a bookcase cheap and accessible to everyone, due to smart
thinking. Every three seconds, a Billy Bookcase rolls off the production
line, making it IKEA’s best selling item and the world’s best selling
bookcase in history. There are thought to be over 60 million of them in
service already. BILLY is manufactured for IKEA by Gyllensvaans
Möbler at their factory. The factory is located in a tiny village in
Southern Sweden called Kattilstorp. 130,000 bookshelves are produced
a week. The employees never touch a bookcase - instead they run the
machines imported from Germany and Japan, which work to cut, glue,
drill and pack the various components."
